James Martin Center For Nonproliferation Studies Plans 20th Anniversary CelebrationThis year marks the 20th anniversary of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS). To celebrate this special occasion, we will hold two major events in Monterey and Washington, DC. The Monterey-based celebration will be held on December 3-5, 2009 and will consist of an expert conference and public event devoted to "The Power of Nonproliferation Education and Training." The conference will feature CNS alumni who have assumed senior government, international organization, NGO, and academic positions in the nonproliferation field, as well as other distinguished nonproliferation analysts and policy practitioners. A gala celebratory event also is planned for the evening of December 5, 2009. An additional anniversary conference will be held in Washington, D.C. in June 2010. Over the past two decades, CNS has dedicated itself to training the next generation of nonproliferation specialists and raising global public awareness of WMD issues. Many CNS alumni are actively involved in the nonproliferation field internationally and are making a significant contribution to the achievement of a more peaceful and secure world. Although the first of our special anniversary events is still many months away, please save the December 2009 date on your calendar. Please also check this site for more details in the coming months about both the Monterey and Washington DC anniversary events. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me or CNS events manager, Ms. Edith Bursac (edith.bursac@miis.edu). Dr. William C. Potter
