Paid Summer Internships in Nuclear Safeguards Policy at Lawrence Livermore and Department of Energy
Application priority deadline: April 18, 2008!

Four paid internships/fellowship positions are available during the MIIS 2008 summer semester at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and U.S. Department of Energy. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and currently enrolled graduate or upper-division undergraduate students or recent graduates of one of the following universities: Monterey Institute of International Studies, Stanford University, or University of California (any campus). Participants must attend a two-week intensive course on safeguards issues and policies scheduled to be held at the Monterey Institute of International Studies June 2-13, 2008.

Summer Undergraduate Internship Program in Nonproliferation Studies
Application Deadline extended to March 14!

The Summer Undergraduate Internship in Nonproliferation Studies at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), is a paid internship. Interns will be compensated at the same rate as graduate research assistants ($9.00/hour) and will work with CNS staff members on substantive issues for one of the following Nonproliferation Programs: Newly Independent States; East Asia; Chemical and Biological Weapons; International Organizations; or the Nonproliferation Education Group.

Applicants for these internships should be students completing at least their sophomore year at an undergraduate institution and be eligible to work in the United States. Applicants should have a strong interest in nonproliferation issues. Knowledge of international security topics and command of a foreign language are desirable. Students majoring in the physical or biological sciences are also encouraged to apply.

  • Nonproliferation Professor, Graduate School of International Policy Studies
    Priority Deadline: February 15, 2008, position is open until filled
    The Graduate School of International Policy Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies invites applications for a new faculty position in Nonproliferation Studies. The position is available at all ranks, but applicants should have teaching experience and a record of scholarly publication in the area of weapons of mass destruction and means for their control. In addition to a faculty appointment, the opportunity exists for an affiliation with the Monterey Institute's James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies.
